| A John Deere Concave has 11 inches of thrash and separation while Kuchar has 24 and a half inches for twice the thrash and separation. The Kuchar Concave is wider between the bars in the front and narrower between the bars in the back for better thrash and separating. John Deere sets their concave on the 2nd and 8th bar. Kuchar sets the concave on the 1st and last bar. The Kuchar Concave is a true circle Concave. The Kuchar Finger Grate has more of a slant in the front than the John Deere cell grate. It drops material below the center of the cylinder for a more positive feed to the beater. John Deere drops their material above the center of the cylinder, which creates a back feed over the cylinder, therefore cuts power and capacity. |
